“Another thing. This idea of “I’m offended”. Well I’ve got news for you. I’m offended by a lot of things too. Where do I send my list? Life is offensive. You know what I mean? Just get in touch with your outer adult. And grow up. And move on.”—Bill Hicks (via rachelmck)
”IAN: What advances? The number of hours women devote to housework had not changed since the 1930, despite all the advances. All the vacuum cleaners, washer-dryers, trash compactors, garbage disposals, wash-and-wear fabrics… Why does it still take as long to clean the house as it did in 1930?
Because there hasn’t been any advances. Not really. Thirty thousand years ago, when men were doing cave paintings at Lascaux, they worked twenty hours a week to provide themselves with food and shelter and clothing. The rest of the time, they could play, or sleep, or do whatever they wanted. And they live in a natural world, with clean air, with clean water, beautiful trees and sunset. Twenty hours a week. Thirty thousand years ago.
ELLIE: You want to turn back the clock? IAN: No. I want people to wake up.”
