Phish Art? Yeap.

artanecdotally:

So this VFX protest thing. I’m not in the industry, and this isn’t exactly the facet of the industry that I am aiming for. But I give equal attention to campaigns telling artists to charge more for illustration/animation/graphic design. This is the same shit.
That being said, graphic design and illustration have very established, and well organized groups and communities to deal with these problems, young animators and 3D effects artists are rarely sat down and told “You deserve to be paid” or “There are groups that support you”
WHAT IS GOING ON
The Oscars taking a shit on Life of Pi cause a lot of artists to say “Hey, fuck you, pay me” Check out these articles

WHO ARE THE ACTIVISTS
Slightly more complicated is finding people who are talking about it that have any real credibility or say on the information. Most of the activists I find are casually blogging/FB statusing, or faceless. Still here’s some notable links:

WHO IS ON MY SIDE
Animators and effect artists, gather together! Remember that you do have power, talent and skills that are very, very profitable. If you dont protect yourself, who will? Speak up and out.

Anyways, I hope that this is helpful, and obviously I am not the apex of info on this. Just dont let PERSONAL OUTRAGE get in the way of seeking out actual information, and actual activism! DONT JUST TUMBLR RAGE, TUMBLR INFORM. If you have better/updated info, Message me
